Growing up in a very dysfunctional household, Avery’s life got a rough start. It didn’t get any better as a teenager. By the time Avery was 15, drugs and alcohol had taken hold of her life. Things got even worse after the passing of her father. That trauma drove Avery overboard. She would use anything she could get her hands on to stop the pain.

It took the intervention of her sister to get Avery here to Good Landing. Once that happened, everything started to change. Now, with over a year sober, Avery has earned a staff position. In her role, she helps lead our women’s program and provides invaluable support to our medical staff. Avery is a living example of the countless come-back stories we see here at GLR. And, she gives all the glory to Jesus as the One who made it all happen!

Life started rough for Micheal. Along with his younger brother, Rusty Joiner, Micheal was raised by a single mother. Being the oldest, Michael became the father figure and did his best to guide his brother. Rusty looked up to his brother and together they made the best of life.

When Micheal reached his thirties, his life shifted in a major way. The stress and pain caught up to him and he fell deep into hardcore addiction. For the next decade, Micheal struggled, losing relationships, businesses, and his self-esteem. Rusty, now having to become the caretaker for his hero, was at a loss. With almost all hope gone, Rusty called Good Landing Recovery in a last-ditch effort to save his bother’s life….

Austin came from a good family that provided for him. His future was bright, yet, at 16, Austin was introduced to drugs and alcohol. Experimenting quickly led to Austin falling victim to the merciless grip of addiction. After hitting bottom, he realized he’d changed; he’d become someone he never thought he’d become…

Austin’s comeback began when he embraced an authentic relationship with the Lord. Now, clean and sober, Austin has unlocked the key to living his best life.

Growing up in a pastor's home, she was exposed to the Lord at an early age. Drugs and alcohol were introduced in the place that you would least suspect it, a youth leader's home. As she dealt with depression and anxiety, drugs and alcohol appeared to fill that void for her.

As she started her adult life, things continued to get worse. She connected with someone over social media that say how sick she was in her addiction and got her connected to Good Landing. After her first time in the program, not taking it seriously, she went back out into her old environment, and things were worse than they had ever been. After a seven-month relapse, she came back to Good Landing with a renewed focus. She was determined to walk a life of absolute sobriety and intentionality to let the Lord heal her and reveal Himself to her. She is now over a year sober and is on staff at Good Landing to help other women walk out of the same addictions she walked out of.
